Material Guide
The best label material is the one that fits the package, environment and visual effect you want. Start with how the product will be handled, then choose the finish.
Core label materials
White Labels
A versatile white film with strong color reproduction and a clean, durable look. A practical default for many bottles, jars, cosmetics, candles and packaged products.
Clear Labels
A transparent film for designs that should let the package show through. Best when the container surface and artwork are planned together; transparent areas can appear different depending on what sits behind the label.
Paper
A tactile, natural-looking option for products where a classic paper feel matters more than moisture resistance. Well suited to dry environments and craft-forward packaging.
Silver Metallic
A reflective metallic stock that can add bright highlights, metallic details and a premium technical feel to artwork.
Gold Metallic
A warm reflective metallic stock for premium packaging, gift products, candles, cosmetics and specialty foods. Artwork can combine printed color with visible metallic areas for a richer effect.
Holographic
An iridescent, light-shifting material designed for maximum visual impact. It works especially well for limited editions, beauty products and packaging that needs to stand out at first glance.
Gloss or matte?
Gloss finishes increase shine and can make color feel more vivid. Matte finishes reduce glare and create a softer, more restrained surface. The right choice depends on the package, lighting and brand direction.
What to consider before choosing
- Will the label be exposed to moisture, refrigeration, oil or frequent handling?
- Is the container clear, colored, textured or very small?
- Do you want the package itself to show through the label?
- Should the finish feel natural and tactile, clean and modern, metallic, or deliberately attention-grabbing?
