A proof is the last inexpensive place to find a mistake. Once labels are produced, a typo, wrong barcode or incorrect size becomes a physical inventory problem instead of a simple file edit.
The most useful proofing process is systematic. Do not rely on reading the design once from top to bottom. Check different categories of risk separately and compare the artwork with the real package.
Check the physical specification
Confirm the final width, height, shape, orientation, material and finish. Make sure the file dimensions match the specification you intend to order.
Print a paper mockup at 100 percent and place it on the production container. This catches sizing problems that a screen cannot.
- Final label dimensions
- Shape and orientation
- Material and finish
- Package fit
Check the artwork structure
Verify bleed, safe area and edge-to-edge backgrounds. Make sure important logos and text are not sitting too close to the cut.
Inspect image resolution and confirm that fonts, linked graphics and transparent areas behave as intended. The Artwork Guide provides the production reference.
- Bleed extends past trim
- Critical content stays inside safe area
- Images are sharp at final size
- Fonts and transparency are correct
Check functional elements independently
Scan every QR code from the full-size proof and verify that it goes to the correct destination. Check barcodes with the intended scanner where possible.
Do not assume a code is correct because it looks familiar. A visually small change can point to a completely different product or URL.
Check content one final time
Review spelling, product names, quantities, contact details and any variable information. Compare the file against the approved source rather than proofreading from memory.
After all twelve checks are complete, configure the final order through Get an Instant Price or submit a non-standard job through Request a Quote.

- Variant information
- QR and barcode destinations
